When looking for Vancouver maternity and newborn portraits, there are a lot of choices to sift through. Does the photographer have a studio? Do they also shoot on location? I love having the flexibility of both. The studio makes for an excellent location for newborn portraits and I often do maternity inside too. However, because we live in such a gorgeous city, I love taking advantage of the many amazing backdrops. Stanley Park is great for it’s diversity. In these first images the city creates a visual contrast, notice the straight lines from all of the buildings behind the beautiful curve of my clients pregnant belly! I love the warm light on her face against the cold lines of towering buildings.
After spending time on the south-east side of Stanley Park, we ventured into the middle for some forest portraits (we may have gotten chased out by some ducks…), and then to the west for the ocean and sunset. Good god, I love this park!
For her newborn portraits, my clients chose to have them created in the Gastown studio. The white walls, clean aesthetic, heritage windows and accents, create a beautiful environment for some intimate portraits. She invited her family to be a part of the portraits, which I absolutely love! The big sisters were thrilled to be photographed cuddling their new baby brother.
Here are my favourite images from these maternity and newborn portraits.
