I absolutely LOVE when clients choose an album from their family portraits. In my opinion, it’s the perfect way to archive, admire, share, and love your family portraits. Don’t get me wrong, I also believe that you should be putting portraits up on your walls. Surrounding yourself with stunning images of the humans you love most, where you can see them everyday, is so good for the soul. However, you might change your mind about wall decor, you might move and not have the same wall space, you might want to update the portraits… so I always recommend an album.
I offer three styles of portrait albums; heirloom fine art albums, storybook image cover albums, and small, linen gift albums. Each album is unique in it’s own way, archival, superbly crafted, and well… just beautiful.
The album design process for all three is the same. During your viewing session, you purchase an album. We talk about the differences in the albums, I show you samples of all three, we decide on a cover option, the estimated number of spreads, etc… Payment is made in studio, either in full or a deposit. Clients often like to spread the payments out so I take a 50% deposit to start the design process. When you leave the studio I will send you the link to view your online gallery and slideshow at home. Within 2 weeks, I will send you a new link to view the first draft of your portrait album. I design the albums to tell a story. Your story. The story of your family, your life, your love. I keep the design very minimalist, clean and simple so that they images are strong, and speak for themselves.
I have a great online proofing software that you view your album on. Comments are made directly on the spreads and you have the opportunity to make changes to your album, swap out portraits, add more spread, etc. Once all of the requests have been made and comments sent to me, I make the changes, add my own comments, and if all is looking good, you approve the album and I order it.
Depending on which album you have chosen, it will be ready for pickup within 4-8 weeks.
It’s a simple, but efficient system, and my clients walk away with a gorgeous, heirloom art album that their family will love and treasures for generations.
