Natural, spontaneous, human.

Moments form our lived experiences, our daily realities. Yet they can be so fleeting.

As a family portrait photographer with a boutique Vancouver studio, I’m driven to capture real and intimate relationships between humans.

A knowing smile. A gentle touch. Laughter.

My portraits are clean, pure and warm. My photo sessions are infused with joy and play, making it possible for you to relax and connect. My prints are art quality because I believe in the photograph as an artifact to be cherished.

When I’m behind the camera, there’s no need to force a smile. Just be yourself, be with the people you love, and let the magic happen.

“Bethany captured one of my favourite things in the world…. the way he looks at me. When I look at this photo I know I am loved.”

Life, completely.

Eighteen years old and backpacking through Tibet, I fell in love with my camera and the people I saw through it. The desire and passion to capture a face never seen, a voice not heard, and a hope burning was birthed in me on a journey never forgotten. I came home, was schooled, married and started a business to create an opportunity to capture the heart of who you are, to capture the moments you don’t want to forget, to hear your voice and see your face.

Vancouver. My kid. My man. The family. Especially the nephews. Friends. Clients. Hockey. Coffee. Wine and food. Food and wine. Music. But never country music. Beer and salt & pepper wings. Travelling. Reading. Surfing (I did it once!). Yoga. Breathing. Walking. Mountains. Salty air and crispy mornings. But mainly staying up late.

Let’s stay connected

I’m a passionate person. I feel deeply, live fully, and laugh loudly. I love to share my passions, my loves, and my interests which is why I send out a newsletter and not-so-regular “love guides.” These guides are a complimentary, downloadable pdf filled with images and words of love for this city. I’ve documented and shared my search for the best chocolate chip cookie, favourite micro-brewery, best flower shop, and more. If you are interested in receiving these loved-filled guides to Vancouver in your email inbox, you can sign up here.

“Bethany took our maternity and newborn pictures and we were wowed by her amazing talent and vision.

The pictures she took captured the purity and beauty in fine detail of our newborn son and new family. We felt completely comfortable shooting in her studio and we will never forget her friendliness and professionalism in immortalizing the most important time in our lives.

We are grateful for having met Bethany and cannot wait to use her services again when my son reaches his one-year milestone. I knew her photos would be amazing, but I’m beyond delighted with the finished product! I would definitely recommend her to others!”

Studio

Nestled conveniently between Yaletown and Gastown, my studio boasts beautiful, original hardwood floors, over-sized windows, and tall white walls. An antique gold radiator heats up the space, keeping my clients cozy and warm during our damp Vancouver winters.

Creamy, delicious, natural light pours into the studio through the ginormous windows, providing a perfect location for indoor portraits. The space is ideal for maternity, newborn and small-family sessions (maximum four people).

My best part of my studio is having clients back to view their images. Over tea and treats we view the completed images, share a few laughs or happy tears, and figure out which printed products suit your needs and wildest wishes.

“Usually having family photos taken is a bit of an ordeal – especially when you have small children.

Bethany made our entire experience a pleasure.

From our initial consultations, to providing advice on attire, to keeping our children amused and involved in the shoot, Bethany was a pro.

Her confidence and direction meant all we had to do was smile and enjoy! Bethany’s photographs truly capture ‘us.’ She is an amazing talent, consummate professional and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone!”
