an antique barn themed wedding | dustin and kevi

i absolutely adored every detail of this wedding. kevi, an interior designer, and her lovely mom planned this entire event. every detail was coordinated, classy and vintage. the ceremony was in the field adjacent to the reception venue, a big red barn! for seating in the field, dustin and kevi had bails of hay, draped in antique lace and quilts and a few antique chairs at the front for family. there were white umbrellas for guests to shade themselves, antique hankies for their “tears of joy,” a large chalk board stated the order of service and a few vintage cars bordered the grounds. the big red barn was converted into a gorgeous reception venue. white lights were strung across the ceiling, white wild flowers adorned the tables, and you should have seen the entrance. a massive antique mirror, a chandelier, a gold framed picture of dustin and kevi and a large board with tea soaked name tags… every detail perfect.

but all of that was just the venue. wait till you see kevi.  the dress, the necklace, her hair and make-up… she glowed. we did a first look with dustin and kevi and all the bridal party portraits before the ceremony. i can’t tell you enough how much i love doing this!

so the ceremony was gorgeous. weather was perfect. family photos went without a hitch. the outdoor cocktail hour was relaxing under the beautiful sun. the lace backdropped photobooth was a hit. and the bbqed reception was delicious and entertaining!

thanks again dustin and kevi for having me a part of your day. hope you are having a wonderful time in mexico!

sneak peek | Veil TV promo video | vancouver wedding photographer

i am so excited about this current project with Veil TV! you’ll see the finished product around october… i’ll let you know… but until then, here’s a little behind the scenes and sneak peek.

thanks to kathy and steph marliss of marliss productions (amazing wedding videographers!), kirsten van westendorp for your stunning make-up artistry and to the lovely couple krista and gareth, thanks for modeling your dashing good looks :)

suzanne and ryan | ubc rose garden and cecil green park house wedding

“my finger’s are crossed, i love your work!” ended the first email from suzanne, asking me if i was available on her wedding date. i was thrilled that she asked. i was relieved that i was. and i was honoured to be a part of her and ryan’s wedding in july.

i arrived at their apartment on that beautiful sunday morning in july to take photos of suzanne preparing for their wedding. she was glowing. suzanne’s hair was in an up-do bow (so adorable!) by Suki’s, her make-up was being done by Helen Dao, her mom, dad and witness Krystal were relaxed, sipping champagne and her dress was ready, waiting to be put on.

once suzanne had her gorgeous dress on, we headed up to their roof top patio for some photos over looking granville st, vancouver and the north shore mountains. then it was off to the ubc rose gardens for the elegant ceremony, officiated by Gisa Laslo (who was excellent and ryan highly recommended).

ryan and suzanne then got into their vintage limo by Time Limousines and we headed to spanish banks for some portraits and Cecil Green Park House for more photos and the reception.

The reception venue was stunning. sweet beginnings helped with the decorating, the flowers were from kits market on yew st, and all of Suzanne and ryan’s family pitched in to make the evening spectacular. the amazing cake was made by suzanne’s sister-in-law, all the place settings were hand crafted and the DJ was a good friend. the night was excellent. speeches were touching, food was delicious, the beverages flowed and wow… can that family dance!

you’ll notice in the following pictures their guest book by yours truly! we used the images from suzanne and ryan’s engagement session back in may to create a stunning coffee table style guest book album. there was lots of space left on the pages surrounding the images for guests to sign in and say their well wishes. i love how it turned out and definitely recommend it to any bride and groom!

thanks again suzanne and ryan, for asking me to be a part of your wedding day. i was honoured to be there and to get to know you over these past few months!

enjoy!

chris and julia | grouse mountain wedding | vancouver wedding photographer

i met chris and julia last december when we sat down for coffee in north van. these engaged vancouverites live in boston and were planning their grouse mountain wedding long distance. although a difficult task, they pulled it off seamlessly. when they july wedding date rolled around the weather cooperated, the locations where superb and the bride and groom glowed with love!

my lovely assistant tegan and i went to julia’s mom’s dundarave home to capture the getting ready images. when we arrived the girls were ready. their hair and make up was already finished, they slipped into their pocketed dresses, we snapped a few shots and chris surprised julia with a beautiful bracelet!

after about an hour of shooting at such a gorgeous home, we went to the beach for the first look. can i just say how much i LOVE the first look and doing portraits before the ceremony? there are so many great reasons for doing this. chris and julia were able to have some time alone together, to talk and kiss and laugh and not have over 100 people watching them. we then had so much time to relax and enjoy taking photos in multiple locations in west and north vancouver. enjoy we did. chris and julia’s bridal party were excellent! they laughed, jumped, teased, and basically were just fabulous ;)

the ceremony and reception were held at grouse mountain. that venue has a gorgeous view, its stunning! the night was filled with tears of love and joy, many great stories, delicious food and dancing. we even had a little photobooth at the end of the evening!

chris and julia. congratulations on your marriage. it was an honour to witness and be a part of your day.

enjoy.
