Just in time for Mother’s Day, I did a fundraiser with Chorus & Clouds and The Pleasant Shop for the Breakfast Club of Canada. It was such a great event! So many beautiful families stopped by for play based art with Chorus & Clouds, discounted shopping at The Pleasant Shop, and a quick portrait with me. Chorus & Clouds shop is adorable and made for a lovely location for portraits. I love her branding, the quality toys, and rad geometric shapes she has in shop.
Chorus & Clouds is a a play-based, art and music space for children. I took this from Jess’ website because she says it best!
“Chorus & Clouds is your community. This is a space for you and your child to explore, to take part in fun classes and enriching activities, and to make new friends. It’s a space children love to come to, a space where they feel safe and loved.
One tenet of the Reggio Emilia philosophy is that the environment is a child’s third teacher (after parent and teacher). That’s why great care was taken in the creation of this space to make it not only warm and inviting, but also…beautiful! Chorus & Clouds is an inspiring environment that will encourage you and your child to explore together.
The classes offered in this space facilitate natural learning opportunities and spark imagination. The activities offer families new ways to establish strong connections and to interact. A strong emphasis is placed on music as a way to inspire children, to build their confidence, and to open the door to deeper learning experiences.
With the opening of Chorus & Clouds, I hope to be an advocate for change in the way we see this critical period in children’s lives—as a time to encourage and celebrate each child, giving them the time, space and inspiring environment they need to flourish. I hope you’ll join us and see what it’s all about!”
Jess is gentle, kind, and incredibly funny! She is so genuine with the kids she teaches and has cultivated a beautiful space for kids to feel welcomed, empowered, and free.
Chorus & Clouds shares the shop just off Main Street with the Pleasant. The Pleasant is an indie gift shop created by the owners of We Are Local and Small Wonder Magazine. Carrying only independent North American designers, the shop is filled with stunning, quality goods. Daniela, the owner, is a beautiful human who loves to connect with other locals and has impeccable taste and style. I featured her on Peaks and Harbours for my People of Vancouver series.
It was such an honour to spend the day with these two amazing, entrepreneurial women, spoiling our customers, and raising money for a cause that is near and dear to each of our hearts.
The Breakfast Club of Canada is a non-profit organization that has created and facilitates thousands of breakfast programs in schools across the country, among many other things! They believe in the importance of providing access to healthy food for children and teenagers, and training youths and volunteers, which in turn fosters a broader sense of engagement at the community level.
I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to all our beautiful clients and friends for stopping last week, to help us raise funds for the Breakfast Club of Canada!
We had two amazing sponsors who also helped make this event and beautiful day. Thank you so much to Cartems Donuterie, who donated donuts for everyone to enjoy, and to The Flower Factory, who donated flowers for participants to take home.
